SARATOGA SPRINGS - Antoinette Godlewski, 100, resident of Prestwick Chase, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 16th at Saratoga Hospital after a short illness. Born in Schenectady on February 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Gilbert and wife of 62 years of the late John Godlewski, who died in 2005.
Antoinette lived in Schenectady for many years. She was employed by the NYS Department of Tax and Finance until her retirement. She also worked in the retail business in downtown Schenectady. While living in her Schenectady home, she taught ceramics classes throughout the years, a skill she enjoyed teaching and sharing with others.
Antoinette and her family had a camp on Schroon Lake which she loved, and spent over 50 summers there. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and arranging flowers in her spare time. Most recently while living in Prestwick Chase, she enjoyed time spent with the many new friends she made there.
Survivors include her daughter Barbara(Frank) Eisenberg of Milford, PA, son William(Kathleen) Godlewski of Saratoga Springs, grandchildren Amy Eisenberg, Jeremy Eisenberg and Kate Godlewski(Adam Gusti) as well as her nephews. She was also predeceased by her siblings Teresa Pikor and Carl Gilbert.
Her family would like to thank the medical staff at Saratoga Hospital for their excellent care.
Current services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A future service may be announced at a later date. Entombment alongside her husband will take place in Most Holy Redeemer.
