MECHANICVILLE - Ronald E. Filkins, 78, of No. Main St., died Thursday Dec. 17th, at his home, after an extended illness.
Born in Troy, July 19, 1942, son of the late Alexander and Norma Ashton Filkins, Ron was educated at Troy High School.
A copy center specialist for O.C.E. of Schenectady, for 6 years before retirement. He previously had worked at Price Chopper, Star Market and the Port of Albany Market as a cashier or produce manager.
Ron was an opinionated guy, who had a comment about any and all things, and enjoyed being the opposite side of any discussion or argument.
Survivors include his daughters: Linda Hall of Pa., Karen (Kim) Filkins of Tx, Kimberly (Robert) Hayes of Clifton Park and his son Ronald V. (Colleen) Filkins of Niskayuna, along with 8 grandchildren. Also sisters: Alice VanVranken, Kathryn Strope, Patricia Filkins, Theresa Chartier, Mary Lou Filkins and brothers: Joseph (Estelle), Robert (Rosemary), Richard, James (Cindy) Filkins, and many nieces, nephews and families.
In addition to parents, predeceased by grandson Ryan Bell, son-in-law Joseph Hall, and brothers William, Martin, Gerald, Jack and Norman Filkins.
No public services will be held with spring burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke.
