SCHAGHTICOKE - William A. Wendelen, 63, of Casey Rd, died unexpectedly at Samaritan Hospital on December 5, 2020 with his loving companion Scott by his side. Born December 10, 1956, son of Margaret "Joyce" Wendelen and the late Ernest Wendelen.
For many years, Bill worked for Millbrook Custom Cabinetry in Nassau, as both a cabinet designer and builder. He later started doing furniture refinishing as a hobby, something he truly enjoyed.
At home, Bill was happiest being with family and friends, especially at the pool. He appreciated and at times owned several high-class cars and was a huge "I Love Lucy" fan. Other times, he could be found watching Turner Classic Movies. Always with a smile on his face, Bill's love of life brought joy to others and his wittiness, amazing sense of humor and timely jokes were sure to put a smile on theirs.
Survivors include the love of his life and companion of 18 years, Scott N. Wildberger, sisters Linda(John) Mcguire of Altamont and Kristin Whitcher of Nassau, nieces and nephews Derek Skidmore , Ashley(Steve) Parry, Dale LaBelle and Justin(Erika) Gilberti, great niece Sophia and great nephews Bentley, Jacob, Luke and Finn. Over the years, Scott's family has also become like his own, including parents Charles and Susan Wildberger, brothers Jeff(Phyllis), Shane(Christine), sister Cindy Sue(Aram) Spitalny, nieces and nephews Beth, Jill, Arissa, Devin, Hunter, Erich, Dakota and The late Chad. His beloved Aunts, Alice Collum and Beverly Boyce. He also was blessed to have great friends in his life, especially Janet Osborn ,Andrea and Wayne Miller and the walkers(neighbors)whom he enjoyed a good laugh with.
Due to the current COVID pandemic, a Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date. Those wishing to help Bill's love of his community live on through his memory are asked to make contributions to the Schaghticoke Food Pantry, 165 Main St, Schaghticoke, NY 12154 or your local food pantry in his name. During this difficult time, friends and family are encouraged to visit to leave condolences and share photos and special memories they have of Bill.
