Obituary

MECHANICVILLE - Charles W. Wachunas, 52, of Saratoga Ave, died peacefully in his loving wife's arms on Tuesday, June 16, at Saratoga Hospital, following a brief illness. Born on March 22, 1968, he is the son of Ann Wachunas of Green Island and the late Charles Wachunas. He attended Watervliet High School and graduated from HVCC with an Associate's Degree.
Chuck worked as an HVAC Technician for most of his adult life, working with various companies throughout the years. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening, cooking, listening to music and was a diehard NY Yankee and NY Giants fan. Chucks true passion was playing the guitar and he was one of the founding members of the local metal band, the legendary Nocturnal Season.
Survivors include his wife of 7 years, Renee Thornton Wachunas, stepmother Diane Wachunas, his children Krystle(Mark) Johnson, Randall William Alexander Wachunas, Christopher(Ashley) Springer and Nickolaus Springer, grandchildren Aliya, Kimaya, Skye and Nathan, siblings Robert, Tamara and Thomas Wachunas and Darcy Kasianczuk, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Chuck's life will be celebrated at a later date. During this extremely difficult time, we strongly encourage friends and family to visit devito-salvadorefh.com to share condolences, photos, and memories of Chuck you have, with his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions which will be used to encourage the battle against addiction, may be sent to St. Luke's Resource Recovery Center, 40 McBride Rd, Mechanicville, NY 12118 in his memory.

Chuck man, my heart goes out to your family and I am so sorry you're gone. I hope you are able to see loved ones in heaven to comfort you but most of all to make them laugh like you always made me laugh. I cry and then I think about the goofing off we've done and then I crack up. I love you my dear friend! XOXO Cindo

Dad,
This feels like such a nightmare I want to wake up from so badly! How and why?! I wish I could have done so many things differently to help you with your addiction. There are many things your going to miss out on like your first granddaughters first senior prom and her graduation from high school. Why did you have to leave us so soon?! I am so heartbroken. I wish you could have realized how much so many people loved and cared about you! I am still in complete denial with the fact that I can send you a message, see your face, hear your voice or laugh at your humerus personality! The days will never be the same! I love and miss you more than you would ever know!!!! Please send a sign that your with me because I’m struggling to get through the days! 😭
