MECHANICVILLE - Arlene W. Barton, 87, died peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2020 in the comfort of her daughters home, with loving family at her side. Born in Troy on August 20, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence Rosekrans and wife of the late Albert G. Barton, who died in 1979.
A home maker most of her life, Arlene was an avid reader, enjoyed Bingo and loved her children, they were her world. When the children were young Albert (Buddy) & Arlene always seemed to have an “extra” child in the house. They welcomed their children’s friends into their home wholeheartedly.
Survivors include her children Karen Barton(Tim Higgins) of Mechanicville, Richard Barton of Titusville, FL, William(Sharon) Barton of Kingsbury, Janet(Peter) MacEwen of Overland Park, KS and Shawn(Gary) Powers of Mission, KS, her cherished 13 grand and 10 great grandchildren, her sister Lynn Meyer and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sisters Eleanor VanVranken and Joan Fish.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, current services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. During this extremely difficult time, we strongly encourage friends and family to visit to share condolences, photos, and memories of Arlene you have, with her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 in loving memory of Arlene W. Barton.

Our apartment complex isn't the same without Arlene. She was such a good friend and neighbor to everyone in the building. We all miss seeing her in the hallway, the laundry room, and the community room, where she always had a kind word for everyone and made us all laugh with her stories. I speak for all of us in the building, when I say that we all share in your sorrow and grief. Arlene was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

I was one of those " extra children" whose life she saved and bettered because of her goodness. I will be forever grateful that she and Buddy were there when I so needed to know what "unconditional "love was...The whole world was better because she was in it. My prayers will be with you Karen, Richard, William , Jayjay and Shawny. Always remember how blessed you were to have had a mom like her...She loved you all so much. My Best to you all. Arlene was a good friend I will miss. We had a lot of laughs. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She took care of a lot of people in this apartment building. Always ready to help if you needed anything. RIP Arlene I am missing you everyday.

Arlene was my next door neighbor at Marina Woods all the while I lived there. I had a little friendly dog she loved and always made a fuss over. We shared recipes and food ideas. We used to borrow ingredients from each other. I remember if I needed something when I was cooking, I would call "Arlene's Grocery Store" (she always got a giggle out of that). She would deliver!
