Obituary

SCHAGHTICOKE - Joseph Ropitzky Jr, 93, a lifelong resident of Easton, died peacefully at Saratoga Hospital on May 1, 2020, following a long battle with cancer. Joseph was born on May 22, 1926, son of the late Joseph and Eva Swyst Ropitzky Sr.

After graduation from Greenwich Central School, he continued to work for his father on the dairy farm, learning much about conservation and the environment. In addition, he became a bee keeper and sold honey locally and in New York City.

In 1953, he married Anita Plouffe of Cohoes, at which time acquired farmland and became a self-employed Dairy Farmer in the same township. He was an avid fisherman, Hunter, enjoyed country music, and had a great love for birds and animals of the wild and an appreciation of the land.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Anita Plouffe Ropitzky, his loving children Raymond(Anna) Ropitzky of Eagle Bridge, JoAnne(Eugene) Wei of Cohoes and Pauline(the late Vincent) Carknard of Buskirk, grandchildren Michael Ropitzky, Vincent(Kristen) Carknard, Joshua Carknard, Greg(Jesika) Carknard, and Amanda(Jordan) Summersell, great-grandchildren Kathleen, Clara, Vincent, Madison, Grayson, Mason, an expected great grandchild, brother George(Judy) Ropitzky of North Hoosick, as well as several nieces and nephews.
