Obituary for Gary L. Travis

ARGYLE - Gary L. Travis, 65, of Pleasant Valley Rd, died on Tuesday, April 14th at Ellis Hospital after a series of recent health problems. Born in Troy on June 10, 1954, son of the late Edward and Shirley Norton Travis, Sr, he was a 1973 graduate of Shenendehowa High School.
Gary had a long career with Crestline Windows and Doors/SNE Enterprises, working in both their Mechanicville and Watervliet plants. He held various positions, lastly as a project foreman.
Gary enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed canning and sharing his yearly tomato crop with family and friends. He liked living in the country and raised chickens on his property.
He was a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. Gary was also one of the founding members of the Halfmoon Braves which later evolved into the ShortStop Softball League.
Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Amy Saunders Travis, his loving daughter Mamie and her husband Benjamin and his grandchildren Alexis, Kita, Lakota and Trent Whitney, siblings Linda(John) Vandenburgh, Randy(Sue) Travis and Edward Travis Jr. as well as several nieces and nephews.
Current services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes/Alzheimer Association in memory of Gary L. Travis.
