Obituary for Edward John Daley

Edward John Daley (64) of Dallas passed away, following a brief illness, on Saturday June 22, 2019 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Born in Albany (NY) on May 9th, 1955, Ed was the son of the late Margaret Holmes and John T (Jack) Daley.
Growing up in Mechanicville (NY), Ed played several sports and was a standout basketball player at Mechanicville High School. He then attended Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1978. Ed married Joy Ann Belanger in 1979, together they raised two children. He later relocated his family to DeSoto, TX in 1987 where he worked as a Real Estate Asset Manager for many years before retiring in 2013. Ed remarried in 2012 to Debbie Key Allen of Fort Worth, TX.
Ed enjoyed playing basketball during his younger years, laughing and making other people laugh, spending time with his adorable grandchildren, watching his Dallas Cowboys, Villanova basketball, and fishing. He played many card games with his mother and children and announced it to the world when they beat him, he was so proud of them. For most of his life, Ed had a way of making people feel special by letting them know he was thinking of them, staying in touch and never forgetting birthdays.
Ed is survived by his wife Debbie and their dog Peanut, daughter Megan Daley Westbrook and her husband James Westbrook of Waxahachie, TX, his son Paul Daley of Kyle, TX; his five grandchildren Cole and Jovi Daley of Kyle, TX; Haley, Hannah, and Harper Westbrook of Waxahachie, TX; his brothers John (Jack) Daley and his wife Karen of Grand Rapids, MI, Mike Daley of Columbus, OH, Mark Daley and his wife Jodi of Jacksonville, FL and his Aunt Barbara Daley of Vineland, NJ. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Honoring Ed’s wishes, there will be private memorial held for family on July 13th, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s name to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Memorial notes and cards to the family can be sent to his wife, Debbie Daley c/o North Dallas Funeral Home.
