Obituary for Albert T. Barbolt

Print
STILLWATER - Albert T. Barbolt, 92, formerly of Hudson Ave, died peacefully on January 30th at the Saratoga Center, Ballston Spa, following a brief illness. Born in Mechanicville on July 21, 1926, son of Albert and Dorothy Kilmer Barbolt, he was a 1943 Stillwater High School graduate.
Al joined the US Navy during WWII serving 2 years honorably as a Belly Gunner or Ball Turret Gunner on a PBY Catalina Flying Boat. This plane was recognizable by the glass bubble protruding out of its bottom.
Al worked for General Electric, Schenectady for 41 years as a machinist, toolmaker, in management and finally retired as a production planner in 1987.
A faithful member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Stillwater, Al was a generous man who along with his wife was always willing to help those in need. He was a craftsman who built his own home by hand when he was 25. He expanded his love of woodworking by crafting heirloom furniture and dollhouses for family and friends.
Al was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Sandra “Aundie” Cuilla Barbolt and a brother Leo Barbolt.
Survivors include his loving children, Donna (John) Bove of Saratoga Springs, Dr. Thomas (Elizabeth) Barbolt of Factoryville, PA, Richard (Mary Ann) Barbolt of Stillwater, and Pamela (Christopher) Izzo of Stillwater, grandchildren: John Bove and Tina Pugliese, Scott, Erik, Ryan, Kyle Barbolt and Erin Mathys, and Zachary, Joshua and Jakob Izzo, great grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Justin, Abigail, Elisabeth, Nathaniel, Adrienne, Leah, Melody and River. He is also survived by his sisters Marie Baker, Beverly Patenaude and Jane Hawthorne along with many nieces and nephews.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of family, with burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Albert T. Barbolt.
