STILLWATER - Paul E. Benoit, 82, of Claremont Rd, died Tuesday, Jan 8th, at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after an extended illness.
Born in Cohoes, July 8, 1936, son of the late Eugene and Aline Langdoc Benoit, Paul had worked at the former Grand Union Warehouse in Waterford for 35 years, until the warehouse closed. He later worked part-time at Seymour’s Motorized Sports and Damn Good Beef Jerky for several years. A handyman, Paul kept himself busy repairing for family and friends.
Paul and family enjoyed many summers camping at Long Lake and on the Sacandauga.
An outdoorsman who had enjoyed fishing and hunting, Paul had a special love and collection of Lionel model trains, especially steam engines. He was #1 engineer and conductor of his own railroad.
A friendly guy, Paul could strike up a conversation with any and all, and always had a quick wit and slew of jokes.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years Gail Seymour Benoit, proud children: Stephen (Trish) Benoit, Jay (Donielle) Benoit, Lisa (Ron) McNeil, Lori (Graig Johnson) Benoit, Brian (Dawn) Benoit all of Stillwater, and Julie (Gary) Benoit of Latham, along with 11 cherished grandchildren. Also siblings: Dorothy (Vince) Cook of Latham, Jean (Jack) Benac of Cohoes and James and Gayle Benoit of Latham, along with nieces, nephews and their families.
Paul was predeceased by his daughter Terry Mason and brother Daniel E Benoit.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St, MECHANICVILLE. Burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Friday from 4-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Stillwater Food Pantry in memory of Paul E. Benoit.
