Obituary for Bruce J. Barbolt

STILLWATER - Bruce J. Barbolt, 77, of Hudson Ave, died Sat. January 5th at Diamond Hill Nursing Home after a long illness. Born June 12, 1941, son of the late Vincent and Dorothy Barbolt, he was a Stillwater High School graduate. Bruce joined the US Navy, proudly serving until his honorable discharge.
Bruce worked his entire career, 42 years as a machinist for Raloid Tools until his retirement in 2006.
Bruce was a longtime weekly volunteer for the Stillwater Blockhouse, were he greeted visitors and gave tours filled with historical information. He also volunteered as a cleaner for St. Peter’s Church alongside his wife Betty. Bruce was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 490, Stillwater, former Fraternal Order of Eagles member, as well as the Polish American Citizens Club in Albany. He was well known throughout his community for his great dancing ability, famous yodeling and ear wiggling.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Barbolt, who he married on April 8, 2000, step children Colleen Bogart, Eva Murphy and Mary Kivlen, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephew Katrina(Kevin) Hoyt, George(Michelle) Poitras, Jr and Kathleen(Frank) Markowski and their families.
He was predeceased by his sister and brother in law Linda and George Poitras, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11AM at All Saints on the Hudson Church(St. Peter’s), 895 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, NY 12170 with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Calling hours for friends and family at the CHURCH prior to the Mass will be held from 9 - 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Bruce’s memory may be made to the American Legion Post 490, 1 American Legion Rd, Stillwater, NY 12170.
