WILTON - Henry E. Leavitt, 97, of Edie Road, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on Sunday, November 25th with his loving family at his side.
Born in Montpelier, Vt. March 30, 1921, son of the late Henry and Lily Leavitt, and husband for 74 years to the late Irma Kemmy Leavitt, who died 3 years ago.
During WWII, Henry fought in the European Theater serving in the US Army’s 88th Infantry, 20th Armored Division.
Henry worked many years for New York Telephone, later Verizon in Albany, as a lineman, installer and a test board technician. He had also operated a dairy farm, years ago. Henry was an avid gardener, sharing his good fortune with family and friends.
Survivors include daughter Judy (the late Michael) Garafalo of Wilton, John (Stephanie) Leavitt of Carlisle, NY, Sally (Wally) Tedesco of East Greenbush and Susan Leavitt of Orlando, Fla., grandchildren: Pat, Matt, Joe, Heather, Brooke, Damian and April, along with 9 great grandchildren.
Henry was predeceased by his brother Joseph L. Leavitt and sisters Catherine Atchinson and Isabelle Swartz.
Inurnment with his wife Irma at the Saratoga National Cemetery will be held in the spring.
