Obituary for Anthony Mark Salvadore

MECHANICVILLE, NY - US Army Reserve Major Anthony Mark “Tony” Salvadore, 55, former resident, died tragically Friday, Nov. 16th as a result of a motorcycle accident while commuting to work in Washington, DC. He and wife Kristy resided in Partlow, Va.
Born in Saratoga Springs, NY, July 6, 1963, son of Anthony (Pamela) Salvadore of San Francisco and Kathleen Pruyn Salvadore of Easton, Pa, Tony began life as a resident of Mechanicville, and later his family moved to Akron, Ohio and then Detroit, Mi. A 1981 graduate of North Farmington High School and 1986 grad of Western Michigan University, Tony was a goalie for his schools hockey program, and a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After college and some work, Tony decided to join the US Marine Corps, and rose from enlisted man to later become a much squared away US Marine Corps Captain, retiring from the Marines in 1998. After the 9/11 attack, Tony reentered military service first in the Virginia Army National Guard and later the US Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Major, with promotion to Lieutenant Colonel in the coming months. At present, he was Support Operations Officer for the 157th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. During his career, Tony made several deployments to Japan, Mogadishu, the Middle East, Afghanistan, Kosovo, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom campaigns, awarded two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge and a number of others.
In civilian life, Tony was a Senior Analyst for defense contractors Alcyone Inc and BAE Systems with numerous assignments to Afghanistan.
A model train enthusiast, he loved riding his motorcycle, scuba diving, politics and anything about hockey. Tony had a love of the outdoors; his home was wooded, with many acres, where he enjoyed observing birds of prey, and was soon to be a bee keeper.
Tony was truly a wonderful guy who had a great smile and laugh, loved life, was loved by not only his family, but by all who came in contact with him, unless he disagreed, and displayed that famous stern look.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife of 14 years, Kristy Lynn Hall Salvadore, his beloved sister and her children Amy Salvadore Blythe of Easton, Pa, Amanda and Connor, brother Nick Salvadore of San Francisco, his in-laws Carlton and Glenda Hall of Virginia, aunts, uncles, cousins and a world of friends and fellow soldiers and Marines. Last but not least his canine companions: Enzo, Sogno, Izzy, Kali, Joy and Ogre.
