OBITUARY
SCHAGHTICOKE - Earl F. Dickinson, 81, of Stillwater-Bridge Rd, died peacefully on October 12, at Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Center following a long illness. Born September 17, 1937 son of the late Frederick and Ruth Knapp Dickinson, he was a 1955 graduate of Hoosic Valley High School. He joined the US Army in 1957, served honorably and was honorably discharged in 1959.
Earl started his career working for G.E. Silicone in Waterford where he worked for 38 years until retiring in 1997. He was as longtime member of the Hoosic Valley Fire Department and served as its Chief for 25 years.
In his spare time, Earl enjoyed woodworking and fishing off of his boat. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Betty to Myrtle Beach and the two of them had wintered in Vero Beach, Fl for several years after retirement.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Waldron Dickinson, whom he married on October 26, 1957, sons David(Jean) Dickinson and Charles(Charlotte) Dickinson, both of Schaghticoke, Timothy Dickinson of Ballston Spa, grandchildren David Jr, Kyle, Charles(Samantha) Jr, Merideth, Allison and Jacob Dickinson and Jessica(Tom) Fiffe, great grandchildren Thomas Jr, Emma, Isiah, Adalynn and Elton and his sister Joan Sawyer of Schaghticoke as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings Marion and Frederick Dickinson and Margaret Baldwin.
Full military honors and inurnment will be held on Wednesday October 17th at the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871 at 2:30PM. Those wishing to attend are asked to be at the visitor’s center at 2:15PM. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the inurnment at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 on Wednesday from 1-2PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hoosic Valley Vol. Fire Dept, 69 Stillwater Bridge Rd, Schaghticoke, NY 12154 or the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad, PO Box 41, Schaghticoke in memory of Earl F. Dickinson.
