Obituary for Sylvia M. D'Alberto

MECHANICVILLE - Sylvia M. D’Alberto, 84, died Monday, Oct. 1st at home, after a very brief illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born March 28, 1934, daughter of the late Ubaldo and Rose Lorenza D’Alberto, she was a proud 1951 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
Sylvia worked for the NYS Dept of Education, Division of Professional Licensing for 28 years. She had also worked for the Schenectady G.E. and DeCrescente Distributing.
Sylvia belonged to a number of local organizations including the Junior Dante Club, the Mechanicville Breast Cancer Committee, the Assumption-St. Paul Choir, and was very active in All Saints on the Hudson Church, its youth ministry, confirmation retreat teams and taught religious instruction.
Sylvia was willing to help anyone, for whatever cause.
One of Sylvia’s greatest joys was spending time and caring for her great nieces Megan, Nicole and Sophie.
Special thanks to her beloved friends, Louise, Shirley, Patty and Margo for their care, comfort and compassion.
Survivors include lifelong friend Marie Fantauzzi, sister-in-law Adele D’Alberto, nieces and nephews: Jolie (Neil), David (Sheila) Janine, Rosemary (Joe), Larry (Cindy), Richard (Debbie), Anthony (Mary), Regina (Jerry), Michael, Debbie, Albert and Doreen (Bob) and their families.
In addition to her parents, predeceased by her sister Rosalie Castellano and brothers Ernest, Lawrence “Boots”, Richard, Michael and Ubaldo, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sunday at 5:30 PM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville, with burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
