Obituary for Carmine J. Fusco

MECHANICVILLE - Carmine J. Fusco, 84, of Broadway, died peacefully on September 11th at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family, following a short illness. Born in Troy on April 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Carmen and Lena Izzo Fusco, brother of the late Sylvester and Jennie Fusco, Betty and Vitus Sandulla, brother in law of Louis Fascia, nephew of Theresa Izzo and uncle of the late Jeanne Guilianelle.
A 1952 graduate of Mechanicville High School, Carm was a locomotive engineer for over 30 years with the D&H Railroad in Mechanicville until retiring in 1988. He was a longtime member of the Italian Fraternal and enjoyed its bocce league from his youth up until just months before his passing. He was longtime member of the Dorothy Welch Choir and also of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge #1403. He enjoyed bowling as well as crosswords or puzzles of any kind. A man devoted to his faith, he was a lifelong member of the Assumption St Paul Parish who regularly passed the collection basket at Saturday afternoon mass. A community spirited man, Carm delivered Meals On Wheels for over 30 years, until illness prevented continuing.
A single man most of his life, Carm was surrounded by the love of his siblings and their families. He is survived by his sister Ann Fascia of Mechanicville as well as nieces and nephews; John(Melinda), Michael(Gail) and Luanne Fascia, Arthur(Matilda) and Robert(Sharon) Fusco, Judy Divirgilio and Beth Shiffert and their families.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 15th at 10AM at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 N Main St, Mechanicville, with burial to follow alongside his parents in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville on Friday from 4-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Carmine J. Fusco.
