Obituary for Doris M. Colarusso (Fazioli)

HALFMOON – From the place she felt safest and most content, Doris Colarusso left her loving Earth home on Saturday, September 1, 2018 to be reunited with her first family of her Father, Mother & Brother Carmen already in Heaven. On April 4, 1926 she was born Addolorata Maria Fazioli to Michael & Victoria Fazioli in Frosolone, Italy. She married her husband, Donato Colarusso, on April 30, 1951 and with their two children Filomena and Antonio later immigrated to the U.S. in 1960, translating their American first names to Daniel, Doris, Phyllis & Anthony.
Locating in Troy, N.Y. Doris worked in the garment industries for Jacobson’s and later Marshall Ray. It was apparent that not only was it her means of employment, but she also had a great love for sewing which was so evident in the by-hand hems she created with the precision of any machine. Every single stitch was identical and perfect. She also enjoyed crocheting and many a family member and more have a pillow, afghan, etc. of her beautiful creations over the years. In subsequent years she moved to Watervliet and then Mechanicville where she and her husband alongside their children and extended family worked in their own business of Colarusso’s Homestyle Bakery. Upon closure of the bakery they moved to their present home in Halfmoon where she has resided the last 41 years.
Doris loved above all family, faith and home and was a sun worshiper beyond compare and her summertime bronzed complexion was true evidence of that fact. She loved the sun most when tending her flowers or vegetable garden of which was always done from the seed of last season always savoring the drying of the seed at the most perfect time to start the process. Where the sun rose and set for Doris was not just in the sky, but to her adulation was in her grandson, Michael, whom she loved with every part of her being and above all her heart. Anything and everything he did warmed her soul like no other. An additional adoration was blessed upon “Gram” when Michael coupled with his sweetheart, Emily, whom she loved almost immediately. The bond they shared and always will is preciously priceless.
A special thank you is extended to Doctor John Nolan for his 30 years of caring and kindly compassionate cardiology administering to Doris.
Doris is survived by her husband of 67 years, Danny; her daughter, Phyllis (Tom Branwell) Villa; son, Anthony (Janice) Colarusso and grandson, Michael (Emily Clain) Colarusso all of Halfmoon. She is also survived by brothers-in-law and their extended families locally as well as nephews and their extended families in Italy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in All Saints on the Hudson South Church, Mechanicville at 10AM on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 with interment in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
