Obituary for Vincent E. Fadale

Vincent E. Fadale
HALFMOON - Dr Vincent E Fadale, 89, of Outlook Drive died Friday morning, August 17, 2018 at Wesley Health Care Center, following a lengthy illness. Born in Fredonia N.Y. June 10, 1931. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years LaVerna M Fadale.
Vince was in the Army from 1951-53, stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. After returning home from Germany, Vince started his journey towards a higher education.
Prior to earning his PhD in Counselor Education at East Texas State (now part of the Texas A&M system) Vince received an undergraduate degree in 1954 at SUNY Fredonia, and his Master’s degree from the University of Buffalo. While attending the University of Buffalo, he taught at Kenmore Elementary school alongside his wife LaVerna.
Vince began his career in higher education at SUNY Cortland as their first Assistant Director of Counseling. During that time, he helped to establish the first Career Resource Library at the college, while providing personal and vocational counseling to college students. Due to his strong organizational skills, Vince was also appointed Coordinator of Veteran Affairs, where he developed a system to ensure tuition and other benefits to Vietnam Era veterans. Later, Vince was part of the Counseling Center team that secured a major community/college grant which over a three-year period, provided outplacement counseling for over 5,000 displaced workers from Smith Corona Corp and Brockway Trucks.
Vince retired in 1984 and became a licensed Financial Advisor for Shearson American Express in Florida, continuing his work after moving with his wife LaVerna to Albany, N.Y.
In retirement, Vince and LaVerna enjoyed traveling the country. Vince was an Automobile aficionado; there wasn’t much he didn’t know about cars! He enjoyed talking about cars with everyone he encountered. Vince owned several Porsches and was a member of the Porsche Club of America. He spent his winters in The Villages, FL. Vince was a master of conversing. He enjoyed having lengthy and entertaining conversations with everyone he knew.
Vince is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Fadale, brother Peter Fadale, sister Lucille Ortolano, and niece Marjorie Ebert. He is survived by his brother-in-law Thomas Ortolano of Fredonia N.Y., niece Karen Seyler (Carson Leikam) of Pittsburg P.A., niece Mary Cudzilo (Alan) of Graniteville S.C., nephew Douglas Fadale (Carol) of Gilbert A.Z., niece Kathryn Nagel of Buffalo N.Y., niece Paula Boulay (Steven) of Hardeeville S.C., nephew Gary Ortolano of Fredonia N.Y., and several great nieces and nephews. Vince was also survived by his very close friends and caregivers Joseph and Angela Brady, Barbara Thomas all of Saratoga Springs N.Y., and many other close friends and colleagues all whom he loved dearly.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday 8/25, from 2-5pm at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St. Mechanicville NY 12118. A burial service will take place in Saratoga National Cemetery Monday 8/27 at 10am.
In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797, in honor of his wife LaVerna.
