Obituary for Mary Elizabeth "MaryBeth" Brzozowski (Higgins)

MECHANICVILLE - Mary E. Brzozowski (Higgins) passed away on Monday July 16, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Mary Beth was the daughter of John Nolan Higgins and Kathryn Grey Higgins.

Mary Beth, as she liked to be called, leaves behind her loving husband Steven Joseph Brzozowski, whom she married in 1963, and her caring, wonderful daughters Janine Brzozowski-Lloyd (Stephen), Diane Brzozowski, and Susan Brzozowski, as well as her cherished grandson Patrick Ryan Lemner. She also leaves behind Diane’s fiancé Jerry Fernandez and his daughter Cierra as well as Susan’s significant other, Rob Hudak. Mary Beth is also survived by her mother, Kathryn Higgins, her sister Susan Hines (Thomas), brother John “Jack” Higgins(Patricia), brother-in-law Guy Amoroso, sister-in-law Judy Higgins, sister-in-law Judy Dworak and many nieces and nephews, and especially her Godchildren Colleen Lucarelli, John Hines, and Jennifer Dworak. Mary Beth had many beloved friends, especially Elizabeth Wilson and family from Northern Ireland.
She was preceded in death by her father John Nolan Higgins, her brothers Edward Higgins, Michael Higgins and Anthony Higgins, as well as her sister Patricia Amoroso.
Prior to beginning the workforce, she attended St. Paul’s School, Mechanicville High School and was a graduate of Albany Business College. In addition to working as a title clerk for a local auto auction, Mary Beth also worked in the banking industry for many years, eventually retiring from the NYS Department of Health in 2003.
Mary Beth had a passion for genealogy and was thrilled to discover that her ancestry dated back to the Mayflower as a direct descendant of Miles Standish.
She and her family spent many happy days exploring the Adirondacks - camping and fishing, as well as tenting on the Lake George islands. Christmas Eve was very special to her and the family, as she would read an Irish Blessing prior to Dinner.
Always fiercely independent, her adventurous spirit led her to travel all over the world, especially to Ireland where she visited over 20 times.
Mary Beth’s gift to the world was her generous heart. She gave her love, time, and energy always putting others first. Even when her own health had begun to fail, she spent many hours caring for her elderly mother.
Mary Beth was an active member of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians and was particularly proud of her participation in the Trinity Degree Team. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Red Hats and the Mechanicville Seniors. She was a communicant of All Saints on the Hudson.
Mary Beth and her family wish to thank the entire staff at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, N.Y. and the Saratoga County Hospice for their attentive and thoughtful care. The family has a special thank you to Dr. Joseph Seguel for his tender loving care throughout her illness. He will never be forgotten.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 20th at 9 a.m. at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 North Main Street, Mechanicville New York 12118 with burial to follow in St Paul's Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville on Thursday July 19, 2018 from 4-7PM.
