Obituary for Karen A. McCarthy (Smith)

MECHANICVILLE – Mrs. Karen A. McCarthy, 77, of Mid-Rise Apts, died Saturday morning, June 9th at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a brief illness.
Born in Auburn, NY, Dec 31st, 1940, she was daughter of the late Donald and Alyce Smith. Karen had raised her family for the most part in Round Lake.
She was a longtime security specialist, over the years working for Union College, Christmas Tree Shops, Albany Airport, Bon-Fare and Stewarts
Karen enjoyed sitting with the knitting club at the Mid-Rise, and the group donated many items to needed people.
She was predeceased by husbands Joseph Rousselle in 1996, James Patrick Kubizne in 2005 and John McCarthy in 2015.
Survivors include her four children: Richard (Laurie) Kubizne of Florida, Lois Kubizne of New Jersey, John Kubizne of Round Lake and Frances (Jeffrey) Tobin of Mechanicville.
Grandchildren: Jason, Daniel, Nicole, Marcus and Kayleigh and great grandchildren Cameron and Jocelyn. Also her brother Richard Smith of Arizona and twin sister Kathryn Lanahan of New Hampshire,
along with nieces, nephews and their families.
Karen was also predeceased by her brother Donald Arthur Smith.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
