Obituary for Leo J. Gargano Sr.

MECHANICVILLE - Leo J. Gargano Sr, 53, of Mid-Rise Apts and formerly of Grove St, died peacefully in his residence after a long illness and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born in Niskayuna on March 19, 1965, he was the son of the late Joseph and Yolande Neddo Gargano.
A 1983 graduate of Mechanicville High School, he last worked as a printer for the Pennysaver at its Mechanicville location. He had also worked for Crestline Window Manufacturers in Mechanicville and also for Forino Iron Works for a several years.
A Harley Davidson fanatic, Leo loved taking rides any time he could. he was a handy guy who also enjoyed tinkering on small engines and electronics.
Survivors include his son Leo J. Gargano, Jr, whom he treasured dearly, his longtime companion and mother of Leo Jr., Mary Thompson, step daughters Tasha and Erica Rodriguez, his stepson, who he raised like his own, Adam Thompson, aunts Linda(Stan) LePut and Sylvia Neddo, uncle Jerry Gargano and several cousins. He will also be sorely missed by his aide and friend for the past 2 years, Philla Williams, who provided amazing care to Leo during his recent health struggles.
A Service will be held on Friday, June 1st at 6:00 pm at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville with burial to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 - 6:00 pm.
