Obituary for Arthur K. Mossey

MECHANICVILLE - Arthur K. Mossey, 79, of Hemstreet Park, died peacefully on May 15th at Saratoga Hospital following a long illness, with his loving family at his side. Born in Cohoes, February 20, 1939, he was the son of the late Osmer and Thelma Hurst Mossey, Sr.
A US Navy veteran, Art served his country honorably from 1957-59, spending part of his active duty aboard the USS Stickell, a Gearing-class destroyer.

A hard worker all of his life, Art was a longtime Teamster truck driver who spent most of his career driving for St. Johnsbury Trucking Company. After retirement, he joined his sons contracting company and had the privilege of working side by side with his boys. Art was a caring man who was happiest helping his family and friends with whatever project they were working on.

Art was a good, honest and decent man. He enjoyed deer hunting, both with rifle and bow. He was a member of the Mechanicville Senior Citizens and regularly played pinochle with the “3 Marys”. A guy who always loved a good meal, there was never a Clambake or banana split he would pass up.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lois Delamater Mossey, his 3 children, Kevin Mossey of Watervliet, Kirk (Robin) Mossey of Ballston Lake, and Kelly (Don) Austin of Clifton Park; grandchildren Joshua and Ashley Mossey and Alexandra and Katherine Austin.

He was predeceased by his siblings Thelma Felock, Janice Drobneck and Osmer Jr, Charles, Richard and Ronald Mossey.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at NY Oncology Hematology’s Rexford location and the caring staff in Unit 3C at Saratoga Hospital.

A Funeral Home Service will be held Monday, May 21st at 1PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville with military honors and inurnment to follow at Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral Home will also be Monday, from 11AM - 1PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Saratoga Hospital Foundation, Grateful Patient Program, Unit 3C, 211 Church St, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866 in loving memory of Arthur K. Mossey.
