Obituary for Pauline M. Buononato (Polonis)

STILLWATER - Pauline Polonis Buononato, 101, died peacefully at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center on Sunday, Feb. 18th from complications of a recent fall. Born in Stillwater, December 11, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Michael ands Pauline Tranoski Polonis.
Pauline was a longtime caretaker of St. Peter’s Church and the attached rectory while Fr. Joseph Anslement was the residing priest. Earlier in life, Pauline had worked at Jack Byrne Ford for a short time. A faithful member of St. Peter’s Church, she was also a member of the church choir.
In her spare time, Pauline enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She was proudly recognized by the county of Rensselaer on both her 100th and 101st birthdays.
Sadly, she was predeceased by her young husband Francis Buononato in 1956, her daughter Frances P. Bartlett in 2014 and siblings Anne Ryan Hayner, Nellie Mokay and Bill, Tony, Joe and Edward Polonis.
Survivors include her faithful grandson And his wife Scott and Lauri McAvoy of Halfmoon, great grandchildren Andrew and Lauren McAvoy and her sister Marie Chambers of CT as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at All Saints on the Hudson North Church, 895 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, NY 12170 with burial to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery. A Calling hour for friends and family at the CHURCH prior to the Mass will be held from 10-11AM.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Pauline’s memory may be made to the Frances P. Bartlett Memorial Scholarship Fund, Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, 6 Tower Place, Albany, NY 12203, a yearly scholarship offered to single mothers, a significant challenge both Pauline and her daughter Frances successfully endured.
