Obituary for William R. Campbell, Jr.

MECHANICVILLE - William R. Campbell, Jr., 83, of Lee St., died Monday evening, Jan 22nd at Columbia Memorial Hosp, Hudson, after a long illness.
Born in Clifton Park, Oct 2, 1934, son of the late William and Marian Campbell, Sr, after graduation from Mechanicville High School, Bill entered and proudly served with the US Marine Corps from 1954-57, honorably discharged as a Corporal.
He worked first at the former Wesvaco Paper Mill and later worked a number of years at the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in 1994. Thereafter he worked a few years at the Northway Auto Exchange.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 1644 Riverside.
Bill enjoyed bowling, and proudly had rolled 3 perfect games in his career.
He was a member of St. Luke’s Church.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by wives, J. Gale Murphy Campbell in 1980 and Betty Jane Campbell in 2009 and a sister Marie Campbell Kelly.
Survived by his loving and loyal daughter Carolyn Campbell of Hemstreet Park, along with nieces and nephews.
A Private Service will be held at the convenience of Bill’s family.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Luke’s on the Hill Building Fund.
