Obituary for Mary Fortune (Fortune)

MECHANICVILLE - Miss Mary Fortune, former resident of Mechanicville, died Wed, Jan 3rd in Bethesda, Maryland, after a brief illness.
Born in Mechanicville, Aug 19, 1927, daughter of the late Mauro and Filomena Cerone Fortune, Mary was a 1945 graduate of Mechanicville High School, attended Columbia University and later received her BS in Psychology from Union College in 1968.
A longtime business and human resources manager for most of her working life, her career led her to positions with the General Electric Research Ctr, Special Assistant of the Administrator for the National Institute of Science and Technology in Maryland, Bureau of Weights and Measures for the Federal Govt., Director of Management Development for the NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC and Business Manager for Acta Materialia, Inc. She finished her exciting career as a Human Resource consultant, placing scientific personnel for a number of years.
A faithful Roman Catholic, Mary was a proud sister and aunt of her Fortune family siblings and their children.
Survivors include her brother Anthony Fortune of Mechanicville, along with several nieces/nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her brother Michael Fortune, sister Nancy Fortune, sisters-in-law Marie, Rose and nephew Richard Fortune.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at All Saints on the Hudson Church (St. Paul’s), 121 North Main St., Mechanicville, with burial to follow in the family lot at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
A visitation will be held at All Saints Church on Friday from 9 - 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to All Saints on the Hudson Church Endowment Fund, in fond memory of Mary Fortune.
