Obituary for Walter F. Roberts

USHERS - Walter F. Roberts, 74, died Sunday morning, Dec. 10th at Albany Med Ctr, following a brief illness.
Born in Troy, Oct. 5, 1943, son of the late Vincent and Helen Roberts, Walt helped out on his family farm in his youth. A NYS Dept. of Corrections guard at the Mt. McGregor facility, for 30 years, he retired in 2007. After retirement Walt helped as a car transporter for New Country Toyota of Clifton Park for a number of years.
A handyman, Walt assisted his family and friends with all kinds of repairs and upkeep.
He was a proud vegetable gardener, who shared his harvest with all, enjoyed yard work, and loved camping with his family and friends.
A guy with a quiet demeanor, he would surprise all with his fast wit and humor.
In addition to his parents, Walt was sadly predeceased by his daughter Christal Roberts who died this past September, along with brothers Bill and David Roberts and sister Ellen Coreno.
Survivors include his wife Mary Lou Bosley Roberts, whom they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov 29th. Three children: Lisa (Matt) Keicher of Middle Grove, Paula (Fred) Hepburn of Russell, Mass and Donald (Shannon Cahall) Roberts of Felton, Del. Grandchildren: Jasmine and Matthew Keicher, Cameron and Dylan Hepburn, Donald Jr, David, William and Eli Roberts, along with great granddaughters Riley, Hadley and Scout Ashline. Also sisters Margaret Roberts and Frances (Tom) Campbell both of Ushers, and in-laws Steve and Joanne Bosley, nieces, nephews and their families.
The Roberts family thanks Dr. Juliano and Dr. Schlossberg and their staff at NYOH, Clifton Park, for their care and compassion.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM at Corpus Christi Church, Rte 9 and Ushers Road, with burial to follow in Dunning St. Cemetery, Malta.
Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
