MECHANICVILLE - Richard H. “Bub” Waldron, 73, of Saratoga Ave., died October 15th at home, surrounded by his loving family. A Mechanicville High School graduate, he was born at his family’s Ensign Ave home on November 30, 1943, son of Hawley and Caroline Sipperly Waldron, Sr.
Bub worked for the Westvaco paper mill, B&M Railroad and finally at the NYS Office of Higher Education, where he worked for 32 years until retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, a 17 year member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks and also the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Bub was a down to earth man who enjoyed family gatherings and also just about every American Legion from Lake George down to the Catskills. He also bartended for many years at the American Legions in Mechanicville and Stillwater(Riverside).
Survivors include his devoted son Joseph and his wife Samantha Waldron, grandchildren Matthew and Carrie Anne Waldron, siblings Terry(Kay) Waldron, Elzora Conway Waldron and Earl(Heidi) Waldron, sisters in law Jeanne, Nancy and Carol Waldron and many nieces, nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his wife Judy Waldron, son John Waldron, sister Carolyn Herman and brothers Hawley Jr, David, Raymond, Frank and Thomas Waldron and his special friend Florence Thompson.
Richard’s family would like to thank hospice, Dr. Stephen Sgambati, Jr., Sister Jeannie of St. Peter’s Hospice and special thanks to Dan & Karen O’Keefe, Maureen Conway, Collette Kegg and his dearest friend and sister, Elzora Conway.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours.
