MECHANICVILLE - Lucy B. Fargnoli Golden, 93, of Saratoga Avenue, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by her faithful and loving Family. Born in the home she would live at until the time of her passing, Lucy was born February 3, 1924, daughter of Palmerino and Arcangela (DelGuidice) Fargnoli. A 1941 graduate of Mechanicville High School, she also attended the Austin Beauty School, Albany.
Lucy was a hairdresser at various shops in the area, but settled in and did most of her work from the back room of her home. She and her husband Tom owned and operated the Golden Drugs store and also the Golden’s Card Shop, both in Mechanicville, both staples of the community that would be carried on by their family for many years.
Lucy was a member of the Court St. Paul #71, Catholic Daughters of America, the Mechanicville Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, the Mechanicville PTA and Area Chamber of Commerce as well as the WIBC Bowling League. She also volunteered as a reading partner for students at Dorothy Nolan Elementary School in Saratoga, and helping her daughter Cathy with her Thanksgiving pie program.
She enjoyed traveling and camping trips, especially the times around the camp fire sharing stories and memories with family, but above all, the time spent with her children and grandchildren was the most special to her.
Lucy was predeceased by her husband Thomas F. Golden, Sr. in 1992, her daughter Catherine Golden Chauvin in 2016 and siblings Phillip, Joseph, Angelo “Nick” and Anthony Fargnoli, Angie Marocco and Anna Esposito.
She is survived by her children Thomas(Mary) Golden, Jr and Margaret Golden, both of Mechanicville, Daniel(Nancy) Golden of Gansevoort, Angela Moore of Mechanicville and Mary Patricia(Stephen) Lattanzio of Ballston Lake, grandchildren Christopher(Laura) Golden, Susan(George) Westad, Robert(Stacy) Golden, Michael Golden(Jillian Seeley), Matthew Chauvin(Megan Boggs), Sean(Jennifer) Chauvin, Adam Gibeault(Magaly Acevedo), Josh(Noel) Gibeault, Jason(Michelle) Moore and Julie Lattanzio, great grandchildren Zachary, Ryan, Raiden, Logan, Hunter, Lily, Parker, Landon, Mayzie, Harper and Elizabeth, her in laws David(Janice) and Joanne Golden as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 3-7PM at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 N Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 9AM at the church with burial to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Mechanicville. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Lucy in a special way are asked to make donations to the Mechanicville Fire Department, Mechanicville Public Library or a charity of ones choice.
