Obituary for William R. Keohane

SCHUYLERVILLE - William Richard Keohane, 52, of Haas Rd., passed away suddenly August 12th at Saratoga Hospital after being stricken at his home. Born in Utica, October 3, 1964, son of the late John & Mary Butler Keohane, Bill grew up in Port Leyden and graduated from South Lewis High School in Turin, NY. An electrician most of his life, he worked for various contractors and also did a lot of self employed work throughout his life.
Bill loved tinkering with just about anything that needed to be fixed. He had skilled hands and never ending knowledge of cars, trucks, tractors and a list that goes on and on. Most projects were not complete without hours long conversations with brother in law Isaac about the task at hand. His favorite of all projects was his Allis-Chalmers tractor. He loved that thing and if it wasn’t orange, he wasn’t on it! An avid Grateful Dead fan, he and his brother Jim had just recently attended a Dead and Co. concert in June.
A small hobby farmer, he enjoyed working the land, reaping the benefits of his own apple cider, maple syrup and various grains. He loved his family especially, and becoming a grandfather to his precious Miss Audrey changed his life, spoiling and loving her beyond imagination. He instilled lasting memory’s and will never be forgotten by her, most notably their breakfasts making the family recipe egg pancakes with his own maple syrup on top.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years Ronda Ford Keohane, whom he married on April 6, 1990, his son Zachary Keohane and his fiancé Samantha Porter, cherished granddaughter Audrey Ann Keohane, brothers Robert of Tully, NY, James(Katrina) of Gloversville, and David(Pam) of Baltimore, MD. Also survived by his mother in law Joan Dunn Ford, brothers and sisters in law Serena Ford(Matt Zullo), Maynard Ford(Sherry McBride), Michael(Donna) Ford, Laura(Carl) Wood, Randy(Shelly) Ford, Isaac(Kelly) Clark, aunts Dorothy Butler, Peg Keohane and Uncle John Butler, special neighbor Jeff Hartshorn and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother and sister Mark and Jackie Keohane, father in law Maynard Ford, brother in law Justin Ford and special cousin Karen Schultze.
