MECHANICVILLE - Albert “Chach” Luciano, 86, native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, died Wednesday evening at Samaritan Hospital, Troy after a lengthy illness. Born Aug 5th, 1931, son of Carmen and Mary Luciano, Chach was a deliveryman for Freihoffers Baking Co. of Troy for many years. He had also baked bread at the former Home Style Bakery and had been a bartender at several local bars and clubs.
Chach was the subject of one of the classic Mechanicville nickname tales, centering on his favorite mutual number “330”.
An active member of the former Sons of Italy and Italian Fraternal Society, where he loved playing bocce ball, darts and cards. He was an avid NY Yankee fan.
In addition to his parents, predeceased by his wife Wanda Obie Luciano and brother Nicholas Luciano.
Survivors include 5 children: Michael and Cathy of Schenectady, David of New Jersey, Maribeth Breen of Florida, Valarie of Mechanicville and John and Billie Jo of Valley Falls, along with 11 grand, 8 great grandchildren, his sister Rose (Nick) Costello of Schenectady and brother Carmen (Maria) Luciano of Ballston Spa, nieces, nephews and their families.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 4 PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville, with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
