MECHANICVILLE - Madeline Laurenzo Woods, 90, longtime resident of Mechanicville, died Friday evening March 24th at Wesley Health Care, Saratoga Springs, following a short illness.
Born in Stillwater Dec. 20, 1926, daughter of the late Vincent and Alexandria Laurenzo, Madeline worked for Norton Co. of Watervliet for 27 years, retiring in 1983. She had previously worked for the Korell Dress Co.
A faithful member of the Assumption St. Paul Church and the church Rosary Altar Society, Madeline also was a member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge, Italian Fraternal Society and the local Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing bocce ball and bingo.
She loved the company of her kids, her many grand and great grandchildren, siblings and their families.
Her husband of 49 years, William J. Woods died in 1996.
Survivors include her 4 children: William (Kathy) Woods of Clifton Park, Madeline (Gerald) Gregg of Johnsonville, Barbara (Joseph) Comitale of Stillwater and Joseph (Lynn) Woods of No. Greenbush, 15 grand and 22 great grandchildren. Also her brother Peter (Helen) Laurenzo of Mechanicville along with sisters in law Lucille Laurenzo, Dorothy Mallory and Hazel Witecki and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brothers Frederick, Armand, Joseph and Vincent Laurenzo and sisters Concetta and Carmella Ponzillo and Mary DeCrescenzo.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at Noon at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville, with burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main ST., Mechanicville on Monday from 4-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Wesley Health Care or a charity of choice, in memory of Madeline S. Woods.
