MECHANICVILLE - Richard J. Norton, 60, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 25th surrounded by his family and friends.
Born and raised in Waterford, he was the son of Verna L. Norton of Mechanicville and the late Alfred J. Norton, Sr.
Rick was a passionate man who enjoyed collecting hunting gear and cross bow and he also loved spending time with his grandchildren Freddy and Laylah. Rick was extremely loving and proud of his daughter Grace Lynn Norton, her fiancé Freddy Vasquez Jr. and his beautiful grandchildren Freddy Vasquez III and Laylah Grace Norton. He is also survived by his siblings Robert Norton Sr. and Barbara(Paul) Cerkowski, his best friend Brett Vertefeuville and many nieces, nephews and friends. In death, Rick is now reunited with his wife Donna Norton, son Christopher Norton and sisters Susan Jackson and Judith McBride.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 12 - 2PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home starting at 2PM with burial to follow in Hudson View Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Rick in a special way are asked, in lieu of flowers, to make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 510 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in his memory.
