Obituary for Marguerite A. "Peggy" Oswitt (Flanagan)

MALTA - Marguerite “Peggy” Oswitt, 75, died at home, Wednesday, Oct. 5th. Born in Albany, Nov. 13, 1940, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret McGovern Flanagan, Peggy was a 1958 graduate of Mechanicville High School and St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsfield, Mass, in 1961. A Registered Nurse and nursing administrator for most of her life, Peggy worked at St. Claire’s Hospital in Schenectady for 30 years, retiring in 2000. She also taught at Ellis Hospital School of Nursing for several years.
Working with Doctor’s Without Borders, Peggy made a number of mission trips assisting with cleft palate patients in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Peggy enjoyed gardening, playing Bridge, was active in the Silver Sneakers program, a member of AORN and a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Ushers.
In addition to her parents, predeceased by husband Gerald M. Oswitt, son Michael Oswitt and brothers Frank and John Flanagan.
Survivors include her daughter Anne Curcurito of Ballston Spa, son Gregory (Jennifer) Oswitt of Princeton, Mass, grandchildren: Michael and Caitlyn Curcurito, Caroline, Christopher and Matthew Oswitt. Also sister-in-law Karen Flanagan of Stillwater, nieces and nephews Kevin, John (Beth) and Dana Flanagan, Kristine Kinderman and Janine (Stan) Harris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church, 2001 Route 9, Ushers, with burial to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Visitation at the CHURCH on Monday from 9-11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc. or Saratoga Bridges in memory of Marguerite “Peggy” Oswitt.
