WATERFORD - Roberta M. “Bobbi” Klusacek, 67, of Linda Lane, passed away on Thursday, October 6th at Albany Medical Center, with her loving family at her side. Born in Schenectady, September 19, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Riska Lasak.
A 1967 Mont Pleasant High School graduate, Bobbi had a varied career history. She was a gifted singer and attended Potsdam's Crane School of Music; she worked for the NYS Corporate Tax Department for several years as a secretary; and she owned and operated her own travel agency, BO-K Tours and Travel. However, it wasn’t until the early 90’s that Bobbi found her true passion, when she became an office manager at the Russell Sage College Creative and Performing Arts Department. She shared her kindness and touched the lives of many students, who thought of her as a second mom. The students privileged enough to know her considered themselves lucky to be one of “Bobbi’s Angels.” In her nearly 15 years there, she grew friendships that lasted the rest of her life, even after retiring to take on her new role, Grammy.
Bobbi enjoyed bowling, being a Girl Scout leader for her daughters, a former president of the Shenendehowa High School Band Booster Club and guard mom. When relaxing at home, she was an avid reality TV and Food Network junkie.
She and her husband Mike enjoyed traveling together, whether it be to Aruba, Las Vegas, Atlantic City or especially their regular family trips to Disney World.
Her family was by far the most important part of her life. She loved her husband, adored her children and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Michael A. Klusacek, whom she married on July 15, 1972, her daughters Amy(Michael) Daley of Mechanicville, Carrie(John) Watts of Inverness, Scotland, Elizabeth(Matthew) Wendel of Mechanicville and her son Michael(MaryEllen) Klusacek of Marlborough, MA, grandchildren Thomas, Emma, Michael, Madison, Joseph, Mia, Eleanor and Noah, sister Mary Swan of Santa Rosa, CA, brother Paul(Michele) Lasak of Hadley, along with nieces and nephews and devoted best friend Rose Shulusky of Waterford.
Bobbi’s family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Dibble, Dr. Saheed Khan and especially Dr. Sunil Abraham for the compassion and care given to her. Also, thanks to the staff of the Albany Med ED and MICU units, especially nurses Theresa and Joey.
Calling hours will be at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 North Main St., Mechanicville on Monday from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the church on Tuesday at 10AM with burial to follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bobbi’s family strongly suggests that donations be made to Steffens Scleroderma Foundation at the Center for Rheumatology, 4 Tower Place, 8th Floor, Albany, NY 12203 in loving memory of Roberta M.
