Obituary for Thomas J. Waldron

MECHANICVILLE - Thomas J. Waldron, 75, of Frances Street, died suddenly on Wednesday Aug. 24th. A Mechanicville High School graduate, he was born in Troy, August 28, 1940 son of the late Hawley and Caroline Sipperly Waldron, Sr.

Tom worked as laboratory support for Knolls Atomic Research and Development in Niskayuna and G.E. as a materials handler for 39 years before retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks, Lodge 1403, the Mechanicville Senior Citizens and a long time member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 91.

Tom would give the shirt off his back for just about anyone who needed it and he had a smile that lit up the whole room when he walked in. His genuineness will always be remembered by those who knew him best. Most of all, Tom will be remembered for the unparalleled care he gave to his grandchildren, Skylar, Ethan and Mason. The daily rides from school, the summers they spent together, trips to the park, and the love they shared for each other.

He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Hasbrouck Waldron, who died January 6, 2003 as well as his siblings Hawley Jr., Dave, Frank, Carolyn Herman and Ray Waldron.

He is survived by his loving daughter Cynthia Waldron(Chris Luby) of Troy, cherished grandchildren Skylar, Ethan and Mason Luby, siblings Terry(Kay) Waldron of Saratoga Springs, Elzora Conway of Latham, Richard “Bub” Waldron of Mechanicville and Earl(Heidi) Waldron of Colonie, sisters in law Jeanne, Nancy and Carol Waldron and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 10AM to 12PM(Noon) at St. Luke’s on the Hill Church, 40 McBride Road, Mechanicville, NY 12118.
A Mass will follow the calling hours Monday at 12:30PM with burial to follow in Hudson View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Luke’s Church, 40 McBride Rd., Mechanicville, NY 12118 or to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in memory of Thomas J. Waldron.
