STILLWATER - Walter E. Isles, Jr., 87, of Fitch Rd., died Friday, March 11th at home, after a long illness. Born in Mechanicville, July 18, 1928, son of the late Walter and Rose Smith Isles, Sr. A patriotic American, Walt served in the US Army in WWII, during the occupation of Germany and later in Korea during that War.
A mechanic with the General Electric’s Silicone Prod. Div in Waterford for over 30 years, retiring in 1990.
Walt and his family were members of Mechanicville United Methodist Church, he was a former member of the American Legion, enjoyed camping and wood working.
Walt was a proud man, who loved his wife, children, grand and great grand children, enjoyed their company, and was proud to be a member of America’s “Silent Majority”.
Sadly, he was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Pearl Fitch Isles in 2014, also siblings Rose O’Connor and Marilyn DeMaria.
Survivors include his three children: Gary and Gail Isles of Mechanicville, Keith and Lin Isles of Schoharie and Darcy and Michael Van Patten of Stillwater. Grandchildren Matthew Isles, Kathleen (Brian) Ennis, Brandon and Kelly Isles, Lauren (Tim) Rudzinski, Kristyn (Rich) Akin and Alyssa Van Patten, along with great granddaughters Maeleigh Akin and Elizabeth Ennis along with two eagerly expected great grandbabies.
Also a sister Dorothy Tutunjian of Troy, and nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service with Rev. Brenda Tompkins, Pastor of United Methodist Church officiating will be held on Thursday at 7 PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours at the Funeral Home Thursday from 4-7 PM.
An inurnment with military honors is set for 11 AM Friday at Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Mechanicville United Methodist Church or the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.
