MECHANICVILLE - Jeanne E. Tarsa, 87, died on February 8, 2016 after a brief illness.
Jeanne was a native and life long resident of Mechanicville, born in 1929, daughter of the late Henry and Blanche O'Bryan Wixted. She was a proud 1946 graduate of Mechanicville High School. Jeanne worked as a secretary at Westvaco in Mechanicville, then at G.E. Schenectady and then at G.E. Silicone, Waterford, retiring in 1991 after 25 years of service.
Jeanne was a communicant of All Saints on the Hudson Church in Stillwater, N.Y., and was a member of G.E. Silicones Retirees Club.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 2003, her son Bryan, her brother Kevin Wixted, her sister Barbara Noradki and her Uncle, Rev. Father Francis Earl O'Bryan, OSA.
She was the loving mother of Laureen (Joseph) Sheehan of Mechanicville, and David (Aimee) Tarsa of Vermont, adoring grandmother of Tim and Kelly Sheehan, Damian, David, Alisa, Grace, and Gregory Tarsa, and Justin Hardacker, and sister-in-law to her extraordinary caregiver Tessie Tarsa of Mechanicville.
Jeanne was very proud of her Irish heritage and her Irish sense of humor. She gladly shared it with anyone who cared to laugh along with her, including the small group of truly kind and compassionate caregivers who assisted the family with round the clock care in recent months. Their sharing of Jeanne's laughter was truly her best medicine.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at All Saints on the Hudson South Church 121 No. Main Street, Mechanicville. Burial will immediately follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville. Calling hours for relatives and friends will be from 4 - 7PM on Wednesday at the No. Main St. Church.
