MECHANICVILLE - Franklin Delano Zecca, 75, of Green St., died at home, Thursday, Dec. 31st, after a brief illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born Nov. 5, 1940, son of the late Ernest and Otilde Laranjo Zecca, Frank who has been known as “Moe” for most of his life, was a trainman with the Delaware and Hudson Railroad for many years, lastly working out the Saratoga yards.
Moe served with the US Army’s New York National Guard in the late 1950’s.
A 41 year member of the Elks Lodge 1403 of Mechanicville, the American Legion Posts 91 and 1644, Moe enjoyed hunting years ago, dart leagues and playing cards at the Italian Fraternal Society of Mechanicville.
Moe was a quiet, adoring husband, proud father of his boys, loyal brother, uncle, cousin and easy going friend to many.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Lisa Holland Zecca, whom he married in 1980, sons Franklin D. Zecca, Jr. of Gaithersburg, Md, David and Ashley Zecca of Mechanicville, sisters Joan and Ray Coreno and Patricia Zecca and sister-in-law Jean Zecca all of Mechanicville, brother-in laws Patrick J. and Dave “Mike” Holland, along with nieces/nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, Moe was predeceased by his brother John and nephew Frank Zecca.
Friends may gather for a Cremation Entombment service with military honors at Saratoga National Cemetery on Tuesday, Jan. 5th at 10:30 AM
Following services, a reception will be held at the American Legion hall, East St., Riverside, Mechanicville.
According to his wishes, there will be no other services.
Remembrances may be made to Community Hospice or the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Franklin Delano Zecca.
