Obituary for Bernard P. "Bernie" Nocito

Bernard P. "Bernie" Nocito
MECHANICVILLE - Bernard P. “Bernie” Nocito, 81, longtime area resident, died Thursday morning, May 14th at Saratoga Hospital, after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 20, 1933, son of the late Peter and Florence Nocito, lived in Whitehall until moving in his youth to Chestnut St., Mechanicville.
Owner and operator of Bernie’s Auto Repair Shop in Easton for over 25 years, he had many satisfied customers who only let Bernie work on their vehicles. Previously he had worked for 20 years at the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co, until the plat closed in 1971. He had also worked construction for some years.
A sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, visiting Cape Cod and Plymouth, Mass, and enjoyed seeing his grandchildren grow up.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie D’Avignon Nocito, whom he married in 1999, two daughters Jacqueline Meland of Clifton Park and Linda and husband Jim Sullivan of Mechanicville, grandchildren Michael (Autumn Starks) Thompson and Jeremy Thompson both of Mechanicville and McKenzie Wardwell of Maine, two great grandchildren Ava Madison and Kolton Thompson. Step children: Brian (Alana) Jarvis of Schuylerville, Christine Graves of Ballston Spa, Jeffrey (Kelly) Jarvis and Randy (Jerusha) Jarvis both of Schaghticoke, along with a number of step grand and great grandchildren.
A gathering of friends will be held on Monday from 5-7 PM at the DeVito-
Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
