SARATOGA SPRINGS - Mrs. Marie F. Verdile, 79, of Glenmore Ave., and former longtime resident of Mechanicville, died Saturday, April 18th at her home, in the loving company of her family.
Born in Mechanicville, June 4, 1935, daughter of the late Dominick and Angela Forte, she was a 1952 graduate of Mechanicville High School and Albany Business College.
After raising her five children, Marie worked for 20 years for the NYS Dept. of Education in Albany.
An avid reader, Marie was a member of the Junior Dante Club and a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville.
Marie’s legacy was forever taking care of her loving family, her loving grandchildren and her siblings and their families.
Survivors include her husband of almost 60 years, Charles L. Verdile, children: Louis and Connie Verdile of Fountain Hill, Az., Lynn and John Teal of Clifton Park, Maribeth and Paul Cook of Saratoga Springs, Mark and Nancy Verdile of East Greenbush and Chuck and Lisa Verdile of Burlington, Ma.. Grandchildren: Stephanie (Ben) Morrisey, Marissa, Alicia, Anthony and Olivia Verdile, Mia Teal and Charlie Verdile. Also brother in laws Chris Sgambati of Mechanicville and Albert Giamei of Troy and sister-in-law Phyllis Verdile of Mechanicville, along with nieces, nephews and their families.
Marie was predeceased by a brother Arthur Forte and sisters May Forte, Rose Fargnoli, Anna Cavotta, Mary Forte, Adeline Giamei and Lucy Sgambati.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Noon on Wednesday at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville, with burial in the Saratoga National Cemetery.
Calling hours at the North Main Street Church on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warriors Foundation.
