Mechanicville – John “Gregg” Noblett, 58, of Brickyard Road, died Thursday, January 13th, surrounded by his family at their home following a short illness. Born in Gastonia, NC, June 26, 1952, he was the son of the late John and Marion Payne Noblett.
Born and raised in North Carolina, Gregg joined the US Air Force after graduating from Ashley High School and served his country proudly from 1971 – 1978. It was in the Air Force that Gregg met the love of his life, Dianne who was also serving their country. After honorably serving his 8 years in the military, the two of them later moved to Mechanicville in 1986 where they raised their family and have lived since. Gregg worked at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany for 24 years as a Biomedical Equipment Technician.
An Eagle Scout as a child, Gregg continued these lessons in life and shared them with other children, serving as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 34 in Mechanicville for many years. He also coached Mechanicville-Stillwater Little League. Gregg thoroughly enjoyed reading books, easily recognizable by the huge personal library he has grown over the years.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Dianne A. Petronis Noblett, whom he married August 12, 1972, and his two sons: Rob W. Noblett of Poughkeepsie and Rick J. Noblett of Mechanicville. He was uncle to John, Jennifer(Bob Perrault) and Jeffrey(Trevor Shaw) Volpe and great uncle of Rozalyn Perrault. He will be missed by family, friends and co-workers.
Calling hours will be held Monday, January 17 at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 South Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 from 3-7PM. A service with military honors will be held on Wednesday January 19, at 1PM, at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
