OBITUARY

HALFMOON – Lena Urkevich Johnson, 88, of Farm to Market Road, died Thursday January 26, at Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home, Clifton Park, after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of the area, Mrs. Johnson was born August 25, 1923, daughter of the late Peter and Lena Wicniewski Urkevich. She was the wife of the late Edward H. Johnson, who died February 29, 2000.
Lena was a homemaker most of her life, tending to her children and her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and working in her garden, but cherished most, the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Assumption-St. Paul Church.

Survivors include her children, Mary(Walter) Jones of Florida, Michael(Lori) J. Johnson of Clifton Park and Carol A. Johnson of Boston, Mass. along with a brother Joseph “Jake”(Marion) Urkevich of Mechanicville. Lena is also survived by grandchildren, Walter Jones III, Elizabeth Hollis, Nicolette, Michaela, Austin and Hunter Johnson as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Sophie Rivers and brothers John, Michael and Francis “Frank” Urkevich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at All Saints on the Hudson South Church(St. Paul’s), 121 North Main St, Mechanicville, with burial to follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St, Mechanicville, on Monday from 4- 7 PM.
