Obituary for John A. Erano

DeVITO-SALVADORE FUNERAL HOME 39 SO. MAIN ST., McVILLE 664-4500 DSALVADOREFH@MSN.COM OBITUARY MECHANICVILLE – John A. Erano, 83, of No. Third Ave., died Tuesday, April 16th at Ellis Hospital, after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born November 1, 1929, son of the late John and Angelina Petta Erano, John served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. A machine operator with the General Electric Co in Schenectady, he retired a number of years ago. Previously he worked in the cutting room at the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. of Mechanicville. John was an active member of the Mechanicville Athletic Club, and was a frequent contributor to OTB and the Saratoga Harness Track. He was a member of Assumption-St. Paul Church. John had a close relationship with his siblings and their children, and loved talking about the years gone by. John is survived by his sister Mary SanFelice of Saratoga Springs, and a number of nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his sister Ruby Scalzo and brothers Michael, Pasco “Pat” and Dominick “Biffo” Erano. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with military honors at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Friday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 2 Pine West Plaza, Suite 204, Albany, NY, 12205 in memory of John A. Erano.
