Obituary for Beatrice H. Urbaetis

NOTICE CORRECTION OF PLACE OF MASS STILLWATER – Beatrice H. Hoffman Urbaetis, 82, died Sunday morning at home, in the loving company of her family. Born in Middle Grove, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Eva Bushey Hoffman. A Mechanicville High School graduate, Beatrice worked several jobs before devoting her time to her husband, children and grandchildren. Beatrice and her husband of 64 years, John P. Urbaetis, whom she married January 7, 1950, shared a love for Polka dancing. It was at a polka dance hall that they met those 64 years ago. She and John traveled all throughout North America, participating in Polka dances just about everywhere they stopped, including the ridge of the Grand Canyon. They spent over 20 years wintering in Hollywood Beach, FL and had operated John’s Trees from their home, selling Christmas trees. First and foremost in Beatrice’s life was her family, as an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter Linda(Paul) Kowalzyk of Lawrenceville, GA, son Richard J. Urbaetis of Des Moines, WA, daughter Diane(Joseph) Medick of Clifton Park, grandchildren Erika(Rohit) Behl, Amanda(Tim) Trent, Jesse J. Urbaetis, William J. Urbaetis, Stefanie DeMarco and Alexis Medick. Also great grandchildren Ian Trent and Arun John Behl. Beatrice was predeceased by her brothers Carrol, Gerald and Harry Hoffman and sisters Winnifred Cumm and Ileen Armer. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11AM at All Saints on the Hudson South(St. Paul’s), 121 North Main Street, Mechanicville with burial to follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery. An hour of visitation prior to the mass will be at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So Main St, Mechanicville on Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or the Saratoga Hospital Foundation, 211 Church St., Saratoga Springs, in loving memory of Beatrice H. Urbaetis. John and his family would like to invite friends and family to a reception at Panza's Restaurant on Saratoga Lake following the burial at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Those unable to attend the cemetery service are asked to arrive at Panza's at 1:15PM.
