Obituary for Patricia Hatalsky (Ryan)

MECHANICVILLE- Patricia Babenis Hatalsky, 85, of Pruyn Hill Road, died peacefully Friday, June 22nd at home, in the loving company of her family and friends. Born in Mechanicville, April 30, 1933, daughter of the late Edward and Madelyn Hanley Ryan, Patty was a 1951 graduate of Mechanicville High School and a 1955 graduate of College of St. Rose.
Patty taught kindergarten in the Hoosic Valley and Stillwater Central School Districts for 31 years before retirement. Patty loved working with children and many of her former students still remembered the caring and nurturing they received while in her classroom.
Patty had a beautiful voice. She was a dedicated member of the Dorothy Welch Choral Society for many years. She served as a cantor, choir member and catechist at St. Paul’s Church and St. Mary’s Church, Crescent until 2017.
Patty enjoyed all social events with her friends and family including lunches at the Ugly Rooster with her high school friends, outings with her St. Rose classmates and many happy times with her friends from the “Pruyn Hill Good Times Society”.
She was predeceased by husbands Raymond Babenis in 1970 and Stephen Hatalsky in 1980.
Survived by her daughter and family, Mary Anne, Peter and Ryan Cureau and son and family Michael Babenis, Kris Sardella, Anne Marie and David Sardella, step-children: Maria and Jim Hopeck, Stanley and Diana Hatalsky, Larry and Sue Hatalsky, and their families as well as many loving cousins.
Our special thanks go to her doctor Carl Sgambati who she dearly loved and trusted, the Albany Medical Neuroscience Unit and all those who cared for her over the past three months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the North Main St Church on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to either All Saints on the Hudson or St. Mary’s Church, Crescent, in respectful memory of Patricia Babenis Hatalsky.
