Doris Russom (Smith)
SCHAGHTICOKE - Doris R. Russom, 83 of Stillwater Bridge Rd. died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schaghticoke June 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Warren P and Mary Lord Smith. She was the wife of 59 years to the late Alexander N. Russom, who died November 4, 2012.
For years, Doris worked as a waitress at the Lobster Pound and then the Captains Table; both in Latham. She had also worked for a few years as a machine operator for the Norton Company. Later in life, she was employed for many years as a private companion all while caring for several elderly family members and friends. She was a dependable caregiver who enjoyed helping those she cared for.
Doris was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 490 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed car rides and her loving grandchildren were her life. She was an excellent cook whose kitchen door was always open to anyone. She especially enjoyed the Christmas season and all the magic of it.
Doris is survived by her children: Garth Russom of Schaghticoke, Larry Russom of Schuylerville, Clay Russom of Mechanicville, Sue(John) Cunningham of Stillwater, Dollie Russom Gandron of Mechanicville, Chip Russom of Stillwater, and Grace(Dan) Petronis of Mechanicville. Also survived by grandchildren: Angela(Dan) and Jeremy Cunningham, Lisa Russom, Laura(Jonathan) Rychcik, Jessica, Heather and Samantha Russom, Anita, Valerie and Dan(Lauren) Petronis, Amanda, Josh and Garth Russom, Stephanie and Pamela Aprilliano and Jordyn Russom; Great Grandchildren: Cheyenne, Brendon, Connor, Abbie, David, Kayla, Matthew, Hunter, Brooke, Bradley, Cayden, Alexander “Jose”, Scarlett, Silvio, Rylin, Dallas, Lessie and Leo as well as siblings Lois Carson, Maryellen Slezak, Dickie and Ed Smith and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Alex and parents, Doris was predeceased by her brothers Leon and Warrenie.
