Obituary for Frederic R. Shook

MECHANICVILLE - Frederic R. Shook, 64, former Mechanicville resident, died peacefully April 4th at Barnwell Nursing and Rehab Center, with his loving family at his side. A 1971 graduate of Mechanicville High School, he was born in the Bronx, February 15, 1953, son of the late Solon S. and Lucille Callahan Shook.
Fred joined the US Air Force in 1977 and served proudly until his honorable discharge. A true patriot, Fred was proud of his service to his country. Fred later worked for Conrail(CSX) Shops in Selkirk for several years.
He is survived by his sister Janet Shook of Syracuse, twin brother John Shook, Sr., of Stillwater, niece Melissa(Jason) Micklas, nephew John Shook, Jr. and their families. Also survived by his aunt Lavada (Frankie) Cromwell of North Carolina and several cousins. Special thanks to Bill Claydon(cousin) for being there for Fred so many times in his hour of need. In addition to his parents, Fred is predeceased by his wife Judy Parker.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday April 7th at 11:30AM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St., Mechanicville, NY 12118. A gathering for friends and family will be prior to the service from 10:30-11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Columbia County, 47 Liberty St., Catskill, NY 12414, in honor of the great care given to Fred these last few months.
