Obituary for Joseph Rielly II II
MECHANICVILLE - Joseph Rielly II, of Spring St., died peacefully at home Monday morning, March 27th, of cardiac failure. Born in Troy, Oct. 17, 1969, son of Joseph T. (Dorothy) Rielly and JoAnn Connelly Rielly both of Mechanicville. Joe was a 1988 graduate of Mechanicville High School, where he excelled as a Red Raider football player. He also attended HVCC to learn the electrical trades.
He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. Joe achieved the rank of Corporal and was a Marine for life. He was a member of the LEATHERNECK Motorcycle Club; he spent time honoring fellow veterans through parades, services and supporting the Honor Flight organization. Joe was very outspoken and made many friends everywhere he went. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need.
An electrician for his working career, he was last employed with the US Army Corp of Engineers out of Rochester, NY. He also worked for the US Air Force at Eielson AFB in Alaska and the former G.E. Silicones in Waterford.
A true outdoorsman, Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was Captain of a charter boat; fishing for striped bass on the Hudson River and salmon on Lake Ontario. He took many trips to his second home of Alaska to hunt and fish. He traveled across the country hunting pheasants and mule deer in the Dakotas, moose in Alaska, and wild boar from Maine to Texas. One of his great passions was hunting rabbits with his hunting family in New York and Maine with his beagles.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Jennifer (Foley) Rielly; his son Joseph C. Rielly, III of San Diego, CA.; daughter Julia Elizabeth Rielly, stepdaughter Isabella M. Turriglio both of Mechanicville and stepdaughter Brittni L. Campos of San Diego, CA; along with his Maternal grandmother Leila Connelly of Mechanicville and his paternal grandmother Eileen O’Rourke; along with aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Joe is also survived by his longtime faithful canine companion Sadie. Sadly, Joe was predeceased by his twin brothers, Joshua and Joel.
Calling hours will be held at the Devito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Sunday, April 2 from 2-5 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 5PM at the funeral home.
A Burial Service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, April 4 at 11:00 AM at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Those who wish to attend are asked to be at the Cemetery by 10:45 AM Tuesday.
